China hails US-TikTok deal as ‘win-win’, to review tech and IP transfers
China has described the deal between the US and Tiktok as a “Win-Win Situation”. Beijing said that this agreement has been carried forward keeping in mind the interests of both countries and this will give a new direction to economic and technical cooperation.
However, China has made it clear that it would closely review all aspects associated with the deal, especially on issues related to Tiktok’s technique and intellectual property (IP) transfer. The Chinese Commerce Ministry said in its statement that any type of technical transfer will be allowed only keeping in mind the national interests and security.
The US has been worrying about Tiktok’s data security and national security threats for a long time. Regarding this deal, Washington believes that this will protect the data of American users and also increase technical transparency.
Analysts say the agreement will allow Tiktok to continue its operations in the US on the one hand, China will also be confident that its sensitive technology and intellectual property will not suffer any kind of damage.
There is constant tension between the two countries about technology and trade, in such a situation, this agreement is being considered an important step towards balanced the relationship. In the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see what direction China decides regarding technical and IP transfer review.
